Can You Handle the Pressure? - Flowers

Hey there!  I'm so glad you dropped by.

I've had this card sitting on my desk for quite a while and it must have been waiting for the Can You Handle the Pressure? challenge option of flowers.

It's made using the blackout technique.  The panel was embossed with Altenew's Pressed Flowers and then inked on the debossed side.  No need to be really careful with where the colors go.  After you have colored your card, you run a pad of black ink across it to cover the top layer.  It will take a few passes.  Just keep swiping until you're satisfied with the coverage.  That's it!  Much easier than it looks and the results are fantastic.

Will you give this technique a try?  There are a number of videos if you need more information.

Peace on Earth #63

Hey there!  I'm so glad you dropped by.

I saw several friends posting to Peace On Earth and when I looked at their mood board I got inspired.

I got this stamp from Impression Obsession as the result of a friend's destash.  It's stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks.  EZPZ  The sentiment is from PTI.

Keep crafting!

Simon Says CREATE 2024

Hey there!  Thanks for dropping by.

No cards today.  Just some happy news to report.  Friday my daughter and I went to Columbus for CREATE which is a huge event put on by Simon Says Stamp.  There were 35 Create it, Take it booths put on by a variety of our favorite companies as well as two classes each day.  Spots in the classes sold out quickly and I'm glad I got our day passes right away because they sold out too.  This had been on my bucket list so I went last year.  It was the first one since Covid and they were overwhelmed by the number of visitors.  This year they had twice the space so it wasn't as crowded.  If you ever get the chance, it is a fun experience.

While I was there I got to meet some of my favorite 'celebrity' creators.

Upper left is Heidi Crowl, Simon's mama.  What a fantastic job her crew did in organizing and managing all the vendors, the crowds and the sale of products.  Clockwise:  Tim Holtz and Jennifer McGuire.  Jennifer and Gina K taught one of the classes but I didn't see Gina.  I didn't have time to stop at the Pinkfresh Studio booth (I did last year) but there are Heather and Lea working with their beautiful washi tape. With all the lines at each booth I only had time to make the six cards featured.  The balloon card is the one we made with Kristina Werner.

I didn't go with a wish list but a few of the products I used making the cards are now either in my possession or on my order list.

Have a wonderful week!

Time Out #263

Did you know that there was an Alphabet Magnet Day?  Well there is and it's today.  That is also the theme for the Time Out challenge.

This one started out a little difficult for me.  Since our sponsor is Altenew and I have so many of their stamps I wanted to use one.  But how do I work the occasion into it?  I think I came up with a decent idea.

I stamped flowers from Altenew's Hello Sunshine, colored them with artist markers and cut them into circles to represent refrigerator magnets.  Then I cut letters from MFT, stacked them three high and covered them with Pico Embellishment to give them a shine.  They're not as large as the genuine Alphabet magnets but those wouldn't fit anyway.  You can obviously see the major sentiment but can you find two other words using the letters?   The flowers were popped up and everything placed on my stainless steel refrigerator door. 😉

Altenew is giving our winner a $15 store credit.  There is plenty of wonderful inspiration from the Design Team on the blog.  Take a look and make a card for our gallery for your chance to win.

Just Us Girls #726 - Word Week

Stephanie is the host for Word Week at Just Us Girls and this is her chosen word.

I knew just what I wanted to use.

Eclectic Garden from Concord and 9th.  I've had this die set for a while and immediately made a card with it that has never been posted.  I think it's just been waiting for this challenge.  But this is not that card.  This is a new creation.  The flower bunch was cut three times in white and the blossoms colored in a variety of pastel Altenew inks, the leaves in two greens and the centers in charcoal.  I used my Clarity brushes to make a softly inked background and added a sentiment from Honey Bee.

The gallery should be full of color and flowers this week, unless of course you make a vegetable garden. The Design Team has plenty of inspiration for you.  I hope to see you there.
